Health and wellbeing threatened in the Hills Shire.
We’ve got something special here at Waves Baulkham Hills. A large group of seniors have formed an invaluable connection through gym and aqua. Our excellent instructors with their varied workout routines are the ones to thank for our good health and wellbeing. Attending regularly and maintaining a high level of activity has kept us out of hospitals and benefited the community.
The Hills Shire council have decided to re-develop the Waves site which is the only public pool in the shire. Their intention to close the whole area will leave us seniors as well as schools’ learn to swim, carnivals, squads, swimming clubs and other Waves members with no place to swim or to attend a gym that offers comparable classes. Closure date is March 31st 2020 and it is estimated to take two years to complete the re-build.
We would like council to build the new facilities in stages to maintain a place to swim. This has been successfully done in other places. There is good access from the street to all parts of the complex.
We would also like the gym, which consists of 3 demountable buildings and a linking veranda, to be re-located close by or somewhere convenient to members so that gym sessions can continue. This was previously promised but now very doubtful.
Please take some time to sign our petion. It means a lot to us.
Please help save our Seniors Gym Group. Don't let council break us up!Read the petition

It’s all about friendships, fitness and fun. As a social group, it also means so much more to us. Don’t throw this away!
If you feel strongly about this, you can also email the Hills Shire Council. Please email our Mayor, Dr Michelle Byrne at firstname.lastname@example.org We really appreciate your support.
